Child Life Practicum Student


Manning Family Children's Hospital

Observed and supported Certified Child Life Specialists across multiple units, including acute care, outpatient surgery, radiology, hematology/oncology, pediatric intensive care (PICU), and neonatal intensive care (NICU). Participated and assisted in hospital-based Child Life events and activities to promote normalization and coping for pediatric patients and families including Super Baskets of Hope and patient participation in the Thoth Parade. Completed weekly reflections, journal reviews, and developmental assessments, applying developmental theory to clinical observations and patient interactions. Demonstrated growing competence in developmentally appropriate support, observation skills, and reflective practice within a pediatric healthcare setting.
Professional Tumbling and Trampoline Coach

Instruct athletes between the ages 2 to 18 at various skill levels to hone their skills in the tumbling and trampoline program. Give personalized coaching to each athlete depending on their strengths, skills, and developmental abilities. Collaborated with other coaches and staff to create comprehensive and safe training programs. Communicated openly with athletes and their parents regularly to provide updates on athlete’s progress and to address parental concerns.

Assist in interviewing wish kids and their families to help uncover the child’s most heartfelt wish often requiring creative solutions to ensure the feasibility and personalization of each child’s wish. Handle sensitive information with care and respect, while providing emotional support to families during their wish journey. Collaborated with the wish team to facilitate the wish process from discovery to realization. Maintain accurate records of wish-related conversations, ensuring all details are documented in the organization’s system. Support local Make-A-Wish events and fundraising efforts by assisting with logistics, setup, and interacting with donors or wish families. Gain insight into the operations and mission of a leading nonprofit organization, while contributing directly to life-changing experiences for children facing critical illnesses.

Collaborated with hospital staff, child life specialists, and volunteers to meet the needs of each child during activities.
